La primera ministra británica presentó un esbozo de su propuesta sobre los derechos de los europeos que habitan en Reino Unido. Los detalles revelan que May ha abandonado la dureza inicial en este capítulo —empezó sugiriendo que los europeos se atuvieran a las reglas ordinarias de inmigración— para conceder un estatus especial a los ciudadanos comunitarios. … Fuentes diplomáticas aseguran que el Gobierno de May ha consultado a los sectores más afectados, entre ellos a los 300.000 británicos que viven de manera permanente en España. Y confían en que el anuncio de May haya calmado las aguas: la primera ministra es consciente de que una propuesta muy restrictiva podría restarle aún más popularidad entre sus propios ciudadanos.
