Ximo Puig, president of the Valencia region ... issued the call after a huge drop-off in tourist numbers after Brexit. He said the new rules, which limit Brits to a 90-day stay every 180 days, are putting people off buying holiday homes, visiting their families and damaging the region's economy. ... While the pandemic will be behind most of the decrease, Puig warned that it is unlikely figures will return to pre-pandemic levels due to Brexit travel restrictions. Puig said he is particularly concerned about the effect of the new rules on retirees who own or were planning to buy holiday homes in the region.
 
The validity of British expats’ driving licenses in Spain has been extended... Driving licenses will remain valid until December 31, according to the Spanish government. ... In addition, British expats in Spain have had their access to healthcare extended. They will be able to receive medical care in Spain until December 31.
 
...según ha explicado Puig en declaraciones a los medios, el 'president' ha planteado a Maroto la necesidad de "facilitar la situación de los visados" porque en estos momentos, tras la salida de Reino Unido de la Unión Europea, hay toda una serie de restricciones que afectan también los británicos residentes en la Comunitat Valenciana --cerca de 100.000 personas--, "a los que vienen a ver a sus familias, a los futuros compradores y a todo el turismo residencial".

An allegedly fraudulent company dedicated to caring for elderly British residents in their homes has been shut down by the Guardia Civil, reported the spokesman for the force.
