Junta announces decree to legalise homes at a stroke

The Junta de Andalucía has announced it intends to legalise all the irregular homes in the Almanzora valley via a decree later this year.

The announcement was made last week by the regional government’s minister for public works Josefina Cruz Villalón during a radio interview for SER in Málaga.

Sra Villalón, who also announced the intention to legalise almost 11,000 houses built in the Axarquía district of Málaga, said the move was in response to the plight of families “living in a legal limbo”.

It is believed the decree will give house owners the right to obtain the all-important first occupancy licence, thereby ratifying the legal status of homes.
