At the municipal elections on May 28, 16,615 foreign residents in the Balearics will be able to vote. This is the number of foreign residents who have registered to vote. They are citizens of the European Union or of countries with which Spain has reciprocal arrangements - the UK is one; others include Norway and New Zealand. Foreign residents are only eligible to vote in the municipal elections; they will not be able to have a vote for the Balearic parliament or the island councils. In certain municipalities, e.g. Calvia and Pollensa, the foreign vote can be of particular importance because of the number of foreign residents.
 
La posibilidad de restringir la adquisición de viviendas por parte de compradores extranjeros entrará de lleno en la campaña electoral en Canarias. Varias formaciones ya se han posicionado al respecto y para Sí Podemos la propuesta de limitar las operaciones inmobiliarias vinculadas a personas no residentes será una línea roja a la hora de reeditar el actual pacto de las flores. El partido ya ha expresado, incluso a nivel nacional, que quiere conceder una «excepción insular» tanto al archipiélago canario como al balear para limitar la venta de casas a ciudadanos de otros países. Una propuesta a la que también se han mostrado abiertas otras formaciones que forman parte del cuatripartito, como Nueva Canarias (NC), pero que suscita el rechazo rotundo del sector inmobiliario en el Archipiélago.

Thousands of British expats will now be able to use their DVLA-issued driving licences in Spain without needing to retake their tests. ...
