Figures released this week by the public works ministry ... show that property purchases by foreign buyers in 2013 boosted the economy of Alicante province... 52% of all property purchases ... were by people from Britain, Russia, France and Belgium, among others.

Según datos del Ministerio de Fomento, Alicante fue la provincia que más compraventas ante notario registró de España por parte de extranjeros residentes durante 2013 ... le siguen ... Málaga ... Barcelona ... Baleares ... y Tenerife... Las transacciones realizadas ... por extranjeros no residentes ... un 17,0% menos. ... El perfil del comprador extranjero ... una persona informada y exigente, que valora mucho nuestro estilo de vida ... que compran mayoritariamente al contado ... una casa unifamiliar situada en zonas de costa...

The draft legislation, designed to protect the coastline ... allows for homes on the shoreline that were previously declared illegal to be sold again. Bans on structural reforms for those homes behind the shoreline have also been lifted, allowing owners to make the alterations they see fit as long as they get permits for the work.
